It is a small, family run farm family business that produces approximately 18,000 thousand bottlesannually in the East of the D.O.C.G. Conegliano Valdobbiadene, Municipality of Susegana.
The Story
On May 29, 1972, Ernesto De Bei, my father, and Loredana Ferro, my mother, bought a “cocuzzolo
in Collalto “to build their summer vacation home.
The seller also demanded to sell the surrounding 12 hectares used as vineyards, pastures and woods.
My father wrote:
“…the reproduction of a St. Valentine from the Cathedral of San Zenone in Verona received as a gift
from the Istituto di Credito Fondiario delle Venezie and hung in the entrance of the house, has over
time given the property its name, complicit in a secre t understanding between husband and wife,
linked to the dedication that the saint carries with him”.
In 2016, at the age of 45, several years after my fathers passing, reading these words I decided to
leave my life as a collaborator at a notary s office to devote myself to making wine from these
vineyards.
On February 24, 2017, I established “Podere San Valentino Società Semplice Agricola”.
Passion and recklessness
Podere San Valentino represents a journey of personal rebirth accomplished through love of family,
traditions and the environment.
From reading the book written by my father for his grandchildren, whom he would never have known, a storm of emotions was unleashed in me that pushed me to embark on this adventure by lavishing all my strength on it.
My fathers signature, together with our family’s coat of arms, stands out on the label. This is to
represent not only the historical continuity of family values rooted in roots, but also those territories
that are my inspiration in believing strongly in this venture.
